• Diversity in Employment Policy (formerly: Affirmative Action Policy)

    The èßäÊÓÆµ board approved the Affirmative Action policy in 2013. The policy requires the èßäÊÓÆµ district to make meaningful efforts to recruit, employ, support and retain a qualified work force that reflects the diversity of PPS’ student body.

    The policy calls on PPS to make measurable progress every year in reaching goals established by the Oregon Minority Teachers Act, which is now known as the Oregon Educators Equity Act, to diversify the èßäÊÓÆµ district’s work force. The policy is designed to help ensure a work and èßäÊÓÆµ environment free from discrimination, contribute to enhanced student performance and eliminate the achievement gap.

    The affirmative action department is responsible for creating policies, monitoring the District's Affirmative Action Plan, training on affirmative action, consulting and assessing affirmative action strategies.
